Angola reached the figure of one million and two hundred thousand barrels of oil per day on June 12. Block 0, operated by Chevron; Block 17, operated by TotalEnergies; and Block 15, operated by ExxonMobil, contributed significantly to this increase in production.
This number appears to support the predictions of the International Energy Agency, which – on the same day – announced in its annual report that in 2024 oil production in Angola will be above 1,100,000 barrels of oil/day.
Angola has in December quitted her OPEC membership which was based on the organization decision to cut members crude oil production in 2024. But the country was particularly aggrieved given the quota for the much wealthier United Arab Emirates (UAE) was increased, despite OPEC’s insistence on the need to cut oil production, and has decided to walk away from the cartel.
