Perenco has disclosed plan to increase its investment portfolio in Gabon, the company Perenco Managing Director Adrien Broche announced the start of production in the coming weeks from the Sardine field, located 20 km offshore Port Gentil during an official visit to country Oil Minister Vincent de Paul Massassa on May 25. This field will go into production following the installation, a few days ago, of a new oil platform called “Silgina”.
“This platform was installed in 50 meters of water on the site of a discovery that had been made more than 40 years ago, but which had never been put into production. We are going to start within four weeks, a major drilling campaign on this field thanks to this new platform which represents a total investment of 100 million dollars (more than 61 billion FCFA) and which should allow the horizon of the second half of 2023, to bring between 5,000 and 6,000 additional barrels per day of oil to Gabon's production. The drilling campaign for this new field will last about three months ,” explained Adrien Broche.
This new investment should therefore enable Perenco to increase its production in Gabon. This company, which is positioned as the leading oil producer in the country with just over 100,000 barrels per day, plans to invest in Gabon more than 500 million dollars (305.7 billion FCFA) in 2023 to increase its production. oil and develop gas activity in the country.
