Oilserv Limited was at the center of a euphoric atmosphere filled with ecstasy and grandeur, following the rare honor bestowed on the company as the outstanding Exhibitor Company of the Year award during the Industry Awards & Gala Night at the just concluded 10th edition of the Sub-Saharan Africa International Conference and Exhibition
The award recognizes the company’s outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s oil and gas sector and its continued commitment to the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria PETAN the organizer of SAIPEC, and its consistent presence as Exhibitor and Sponsor at the SAIPEC Event since its maiden edition.
The award received by Engr Chuka Eze, the managing director of Frazimex, on behalf of Oilserv Group, has underscored the company’s unparalleled technological know-how in the Nigerian oil and gas pipeline construction industry, which the company has achieved through the unlocking of this innovative expertise across its numerous projects.
Speaking at a panel section at the SAIPEC event with the theme "Celebrating a Decade of Energy, Oil, and Gas Innovation in Sub-Saharan Africa", Engr Eze noted that the numerous capacity-building and technological impacts created by Oilserv in the Nigerian oil and gas space have expanded over the years, and the records there speak for themselves.
He mentioned Oilserv’s development of semi- automated welding technology for the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline project, replacing the aged, long manual welding practices. He emphasized that this latest innovation is available in major advanced projects being executed by renowned EPC companies such as SAIPEM and DAEWOO.
Speaking further on the availability of these technologies at Oilserv's disposal, Engr Eze stated that the company can now compete with major global EPC companies, noting that the recent award of the swamp pipeline construction contract to the company by Nigeria LNG Limited is an obvious testament to the company’s technological capability and capacity.
Mr. Ezeh stated that with the recent contract coming from a globally reputable company like NLNG, it signified the confidence and trust major oil and gas operators have bestowed on the company in offshore project execution, noting that the project will chart an indelible path to Oilserv’s long-held dream to venture into major offshore pipeline construction operations.
“Oliserv has been awarded a 36-inch by 6km gas pipeline construction contract, with Package A being part of the total length of the 36 km pipeline project. Package A is a shallow water section of the contract and will cross a water depth of about 25 metres. We are starting the project this month, and it is expected to be completed in the next two years”, Engr. Ezeh said.
According to Engr. Ezeh, the unprecedented milestone achieved by Oilserv, has underscored the company’s resilience in building capacity and capability over the years through the acquisition of modern technology and training staff in the acquisition of requisite knowledge available in the global pipeline technology space to compete favorably with global contemporaries in pipeline construction.
Oilserv has a proven track record in critical infrastructure projects in Nigeria and has shown its proficiency in pipeline design and construction, having initiated and completed the largest diameter pipeline project in Nigeria – the 48-inch by 127k km Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) gas pipeline project. The company has also designed and completed the 36-inch by 43 km Anoh gas pipeline project.
“Oilserv was awarded the contract to design the manifold and construction of a 36-inch by 43 km Anoh gas pipeline, which is one of the key gas infrastructure projects that was commissioned last year by the Nigerian President, H.E Ahmed Bola Tinubu. So that line is available and currently flowing gas from AGPC Limited to CTMS at Omoku,” He added.
The company is currently executing numerous ongoing gas pipeline projects in Nigeria, including the segment A 40-inch by 614 km Ajaokuta Kaduna Kano gas pipeline project awarded by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, and the Ubeta 14 -inch by 16 km gas pipeline project that was awarded by the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited.
