Dangote Refinery has refuted a media headline with title “NNPC lifts Dangote Petrol, sells at N897 per litre” as published in the BusinessDay Newspapers of Wednessday, 4 September 2024 and pegging such media information in the public media space as unsubstantiated and should be disregarded by the general public.
According to the recent media released disclosure being circulated in the public space and signed by the company through its Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer Anthony Chiejina, Dangote Refinery disassociated itself from the news as circulated by the BusinessDay Newspapers.
Chiejila further in the media release clarified the Company’s current position on fixing of pump price in support of the previous assertion made by the Chairman Aliko Dangote during his recent media briefing on the resumption of the plant first streaming of petrol. He stated that fixing of petro price is a contract between the company and NNPC Limited.
‘We would like to state that NNPC has not commenced lifting of refined Premium Motor Spirit(PMS), commonly known as petrol, from our Dangote Petroleum Refinery. We urge the public to disregard the headline as it is misleading and does not represent the true position in this matter.
“Therefore, the issue of fixing the price of petrol lifted from our refinery does not arise, as we are yet to finalize our contract with NNPC,” Mr. Chiejila stated
He acknowledged the fact that Petroleum Most Spirit (PMS) is still partially regulated by the Federal Government of Nigeria which all oil marketers and stakeholders in the sector have knowledge of that and be also in the picture that fixing the price of petrol falls under the regulations and jurisdiction of the government. He further assured the end users that the newly refined Dangote Petrol will be of best quality and availability.
“The PMS market it strictly regulated, which is known to all oil marketers and stakeholders in the sector, hence we cannot determine, fix, or influence the product price, which falls under the purview of relevant government authorities.
“We are guaranteeing Nigerian of exceptional high quality petroleum products that will be readily available all over the country,” He added
