The Nigerian Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas) Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo has in faraway China signed some key critical Project Agreements for construction of the Brass Industrial Park, Gas Gathering Pipelines & Associated Facilities, and the Methanol Complex Project in Nigeria.
These ground breaking agreements were signed between Nigeria, Brass Fertilizer and Petrochemical Company Ltd. (BFPCL) and the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) of China as a lineup of activities during the ongoing Presidential State Visit and Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in China.
“I witnessed the signing of This partnership is set to inject about US$3.3 billion into our economy, driving growth and innovation in Nigeria’s energy sector which is pivotal in driving Nigeria’s industrial growth and energy security, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” Hon, Ekperikpe stated.
The Forum on China–Africa Cooperation is an official forum between the People's Republic of China and all states in Africa and the forum is seen as a great opportunity by most African countries to deepen their economic and political bilateral ties with China in the area of development and financing of critical investment projects and grants.
China is Nigeria's biggest bilateral lender, with loans amounting to $5 billion at the end of March, according to figures from Nigeria's Debt Management office. The Asian giant has an established long and outstanding economic tie with Nigeria and currently has numerous ongoing projects across the country spanning through oil, gas and energy, aviation and Information & telecommunication sectors
As part of Nigeria’s economic activities in China, President Tinubu has toured the Huawei Research lab and secured a commitment from Huawei to establish a joint solar PV test lab in Nigeria as another Chinese firm has also pledged to establish an assembly plant for electric tricycles and train Nigerians in technology and renewable energy development.
"This comprehensive strategic partnership should result in robust development, stability, and security in the West African sub-region," Nigeria's Tinubu said
