The Minister of State Petroleum Gas Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo has launched the Ride Share Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Conversion Incentive Programme and the PI-CNG's My CNG App in Abuja. The programme which offers a 50% discount to rideshare drivers is launched against the backdrop of the challenges that the transport sector faces, especially with the recent increase in fuel prices.

According to the Minister, the Ride Share sector undoubtedly remains a crucial part of Nigeria’s urban transportation system that will invariably provide flexible and cost-effective mobility solutions, particularly for the teeming youths in the country.

“The CNG Conversion Incentive Programme, alongside the My CNG App, is therefore our bold response to these challenges. By offering a 50% discount to rideshare drivers who sign up and schedule through the app, we are not only making CNG a viable alternative, but also reducing the financial burden on drivers, ultimately leading to more affordable transportation for everyone.

“I have to commend the Programme Coordinator of the Presidential CNG Initiative (P-CNGi), Portland Gas, Dana Motors and other critical stakeholders who have worked tirelessly to bring this project to fruition, “Hon. Ekperikpe stated

The Hon. Minister further informed the participants that the Compressed Natural Gas Initiative Programme is one of the Present Government of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu projects to Cushion the economic harsh effects caused by the removal of fuel subsidy as the fuel will be accessible and affordable nationwide.

“This initiative is a clear demonstration of the Federal Government’s dedication to providing accessible and affordable transportation options for all Nigerians. It is important for us to recognize the efforts of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in improving the lives of citizens.

“I urge Nigerians to continue to support Mr. President, rather than criticize him, as he is poised to leave Nigeria in a better state than he met it on assumption of office,” He said.
