The delegation of Nigerian Federal Government led by the Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil) Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, alongside the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Mr, Mele Kolo Kyari. and the Chief Executive of NUPRC Engr Gbenga Komolafe have paid an official visit to Ogun State as part of a strategic initiative to kickstart exploration activities in this region.
Accoording to the Minister of State for Petroleum Oil, Ogun State is believed to hold a significant potential for hydrocarbon deposits which is Situated within the Dahomey Basin of the region and the present Nigeria government is poised to ramp up crude oil production in meeting up the nation’s OPEC production quota.
“Our visit underscores the Federal Government's unwavering commitment to enhancing our nation's economy through the petroleum sector, which I have always projected as the quickest means to solving our economic challenges.
Our objective is clear: to explore and harness the vast resources in Ogun State, thereby contributing to national development and energy security.
“This visit forms part of our broader campaign to expand exploration activities across the country, ensuring that every viable resource is utilized to its fullest potential. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun for the warm reception and his unequivocal support for this initiative, Sen. Lokpobiri said.
Sen. Lolpobiri emphasized the importance of the their visit as crucial In collaborating with the State Governor Mr Abiodun and people of Ogun State to obtain the maximum commitment and synergy needed to achieve goals and fruitful partnership for a promising venture.
In his remark, the Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun thanked the Federal Government for this kind gesture describing it as long awaited veritable economic venture for the state.
“We have been discussing this for so long and l can express my appreciation to the Federal Government and particularly now that this is happening under my watch and I want to thank Mr President for providing enabling environment for these kind of discussions and initiative to be implemented, “ Governor Abiodu stated.
