The completion ceremony of Asiko Energy’s fully mounded 5,500MT LPG and Propane terminal, which took place on Tuesday, September 29, in Ijora, Lagos, marks the delivery of the first phase of a much larger gas infrastructure project: twelve 250 cubic metres (cbm) tanks and one 30,000 cubic metres (cbm) large tank LNG terminal set to commence next year.
The completion ceremony brought together stakeholders and partners to witness the delivery of the project’s first phase.
The LPG and Propane terminal has five 1,000 MT propane-rated storage tanks, a fully mounded storage design and a 1.7 km underground pipeline connecting the facility to three jetty points at Apapa Port. This gives the terminal an important combination of coastal supply access and inland distribution capability.
Asiko broke ground on the project in 2022 with the objective of creating an integrated terminal capable of supporting LPG, Propane and LNG, while connecting coastal supply infrastructure to inland distribution networks. The next phase will extend that infrastructure into LNG.
The planned twelve 250cbm tanks, followed by one 30,000cbm large tank, fully contained LNG terminal is designed to expand the range of gas products that can be received, stored and distributed from the facility. The wider development is also expected to create potential for LNG-to-CNG applications through appropriate compression infrastructure.
