In December 2024, TechnipFMC won a contract valued between $250m and $500m to supply its Subsea 2.0 production systems for the project. The contract includes design and fabrication of 9 production subsea tree systems, manifolds, 17 well jumpers, controls, and services.
Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo), a subsidiary of Shell plc, announced a final investment decision (FID) in 2024 for Bonga North, a deep-water project off Nigeria's coast.
FD3 Production Well Jumper will be installed at Bonga North to facilitate the subsea tie-back to the Shell-operated Bonga Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facility, in which Shell operates with a 55% interest.
The Bonga North project involves drilling, completing, and starting up 16 wells (8 production and 8 water injection wells), modifications to the existing Bonga Main FPSO, and installing new subsea hardware tied back to the FPSO.
The project will sustain oil and gas production at the Bonga facility. Bonga North has an estimated recoverable resource volume of more than 300 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe). It will reach a peak production of 110,000 barrels of oil daily, with the first oil anticipated by the end of the decade.
